The Power Of Human Connection

Not knowing what the world we lived in was, when we were young, we, somehow, would become invariably afraid of being alone. At that time, we always sought the comfort of our family to acquire safety and mainly sense of security. This is what I learned about human nature, supposing that only the fledgling time of us fear solitude, and when we grow up, this worry will diminish.
Puyi, the former Emperor of the Qing Dynasty (the last emperor of China), lived his life through many tremendous ups and downs that no one could imagine how one would survive experiencing. I am not going to narrate the history in this article, I just want to tell you what his life makes me feel the most thought-provoking.
I was pretty struck by the image that, Puyi, at the latter stage of his life, deplorably knelt before a woman begging her not to leave him – when – at that time he was down and out. Puyi, an emperor, for most of his life, had everyone who came and left kneel before him. Such nobleness, power, and authority of him were peremptory and invincible. It is pretty shocking and sarcastic to learn that Puyi ultimately knelt before a woman, humbly telling us what he finally needed was a companion who would be willing to stay with him. He lets humans realize that regardless of a person’s once all-powerful, he is a human subject to loneliness and fear, and he would one day lose everything and feel lonesome, scared, and desperate for a company.
Furthermore, we often perceive adults as self-sufficient, believing they need less love and companion than children. However; the truth is we can easily hear many adults moan about being lonesome, blaming lacking someone to accompany them. Cultivating strong and healthy relationships can alleviate this sense of isolation and insecurity.
Conceivably, Puyi underscores the universal need for human connection. It reminds us to cherish and nurture the relationships we have, as they will provide solace and support in times of need.
