In-between serious and funny

We all want to be a not-so-serious person, for we are born to seek joy, fun, and laughter, it is painful to be a serious person because being such a person would lose many chances of being happy and relaxing. However; we have all along been told and taught that we have to be serious.
Common sense tells us we will only be respected and trusted when we behave ourselves as a disciplined person who would follow rules and do things in a serious way, denoting to us that the kind of funny people will be viewed as loose, lazy, playful, naughty, not so highly educated or even low quality. According to this theory as well as practice, we force ourselves to be serious, mature, and disciplined to earn others’ respect and trust so that we think we can survive in the real world. Lamentably, we end up an unhappy person as a result. Yeah, it is hard to change such a perspective that we have inevitably imposed on each other.
Undoubtedly, a person who is not serious will make more mistakes than those who are serious. Therefore, it is impossible for us to agree on being a funny person all the time. According to it, what we should do is we have to learn how to be a serious person as well as we can sometimes also be funny, playful, interesting, or even naughty by striking a proper and skillful balance between them.
